*Key:

Per-Pupil Education Reform Aid is the difference between the amount of per-pupil Chapter 70 state school aid provided in 1994 and the amount provided in 1998. It is a measure of how much additional resources education reform brought to individual districts during that period. See Footnote 11 in the text for more detail.

COMBINED OVERSCORE x..x 98-00 is the sum of the district's Overscores on all three MCAS administrations in three subjects. For example, ELA4 is English Language Arts for Grade 4; M4 is Math for Grade 4, and such. Overscore is the difference between the demographically-predicted score and the actual district MCAS score. The higher the Overscore, the more a district exceeded its demographic characteristics.
